On Friday 25th March, 8 members of the 2011 R4YL adiRunner team attended the official launch at Head Office.
Although this will be the 4th year of the program running, it is the first time we have held an event of this nature, which has so far received very positive feedback. Nearly every athlete in this years team has represented Australia in some capacity, including 3 at the recent World Cross Country championships in Mexico where they competed alongside Craig Mottram. The goals of the day were to set out expectations for the year and create a team environment, collate photographs of each runner to use throughout the year in R4YL magazine as well as in web-based publications, get media exposure via aths Vic TV and allow the athletes to choose running gear and be fitted for eyewear rather than ordering out of a catalogue.
The jam-packed day consisted of a brief introduction including expectations and the history of the program, followed by a sports marketing presentation, an adidas eyewear presentation, a Q&A with Craig Mottram who then presented each of them with the 2011 race uniform. The runners then split into groups of 2 and rotated through the following activities:
- Professional photography shots
- Aths Vic TV interviews
- adidas eyewear fittings
- adiCentre
A big thanks goes to Aaron Kilner and Rachel Enthoven for their help both before and during the event, and Nichola Young for her excellent sports marketing presentation! If you have any further questions about the program or the day, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Aaron.
